Item Description

Like New - Been used Twice!!!!

The CM.041PDW takes the SMG-5 and shrinks it down into an even more compact package, small enough that the real gun can be fired from a specially designed briefcase! Obviously, in an Airsoft skirmish, you are much more likely to hit something with a stock on the PDW, so that's what Cyma has done. This SMG-5 is almost an entirely new AEG, featuring its own stock attachment method, and a version 3 gearbox instead of the v2 found in the longer SMG-5 variants, providing increased battery space above the gearbox.

Starting at the tip of the barrel we can find a quick detachable SMG-5 flash hider. This can easily be removed using the textured tab, which can be pulled out, then pushed flat to release the flash hider from the SMG-5 tri-lug muzzle device beneath. This muzzle device provides both the SMG-5 tri-lug attachment method and a 14mm CCW male thread beneath a knurled thread protector, ensuring that whatever suppressor you have, there will be a way to mount it on the CM.041PDW. The front iron sight is constructed from metal, as one would expect, and takes the form of a ringed front post. The ring surrounding the sight provides drop protection, preventing the fine front sight blade from being damaged should a butterfingers-related mishap occur. The ring can also provide an ultra-rapid aiming device for kissing distance engagements in itself, which is handy as that is what the CM.041PDW was designed for. The front sight lines up perfectly with the rotary drum diopter iron sight at the rear, which can be adjusted for different aperture sizes without the use of tools and includes knurling around the circumference to provide grip. making adjustment easy. The rear sight can also be adjusted for windage, using the adjustment screw on the right side of the sight.

The cocking handle of the CM.041PDW can be found on the left side of the cocking tube, above the handguard. On this replica, the cocking handle does not actuate a fake bolt. This is due to the area where the fake bolt would travel being used instead for the AEG's rather large battery compartment. Regardless of this, the charging handle can still be racked, and locked up into the safety notch, and provides an impressive metallic "clank" when operated. The handguard of the CM.041PDW includes both an integrated vertical grip, and a handstop to complete the classic SMG-5 PDW look. The handguard can also be removed, and replaced with any alternative SMG-5K/PDW handguard. To remove the handguard, simply remove the pin, and the handguard will come straight off. The pin which retains the handguard also includes a front sling loop, which can be reversed to either side, and works well in conjunction with the rear sling point on the stock for use with a two point sling. The vertical grip is well placed and comfortable, and the handstop prevents accidentally shooting your own hand and is essential, given the AEG's extremely short front end and barrel.

The receiver of the CM.041PDW follows the classic stamped SMG-5 receiver look, with grooves on either side which would provide a track for the sliding stock on the full-length SMG-5, but on the SMG-5K they simply provide a channel within which the bolt carrier reciprocates within. Functionally this does not affect how the CM.041PDW works, but it does mean a lot for realism, as without these details we may as well be playing paintball!

Now, onto the controls. The CM.041PDW comes equipped with the latest design in SMG-5 trigger groups, featuring ambidextrous selector levers and high visibility bullet pictograms to indicate each fire mode. The safe mode is indicated with a white crossed out bullet, and both semi and full auto are marked with red bullet pictograms. The selector switch lies directly beneath the shooter's thumb when in a firing grip, and is easily switched between modes, locking positively into each. The CM.041PDW, like most SMG-5 AEGs, provides two methods for releasing the magazine. In front of the trigger guard, on the bottom of the PDW is an ambidextrous paddle type magazine release, which is accessible from either side and can also be actuated using the trigger finger. As an alternative, for Americans and others who don't understand how to use anything other than an AR15 magazine release, the CM.041PDW provides an AR15 style button release just above the magazine release on the right side, right where an AR15 user would expect it. The pistol grip follows a familiar profile, comfortably filling the hand and providing support where it is needed. The material used on the polymer parts of the CM.041PDW is a textured fibre reinforced type, similar to the material used on the real version of this AEG, and is rock solid, with no creak, flex or wobble, and a satisfying high quality feel.

The CM.041PDW differs from the CM.041K model primarily due to its side folding stock. The stock attaches to the rear of the PDW using its two pin attachment method, and this stock can be exchanged for an end plate or other SMG-5K/PDW compatible stocks. The stock itself is constructed from a single piece of high density polymer, and attaches to the PDW via an alloy folding mechanism, with a steel spring to hold the stock in the locked position. The folding mechanism also includes a sling point, which is mounted on the left side and is ideal for use with a single point sling, but can also be used with a two point sling along with the sling loop attached to the handguard pin at the front of the PDW. To fold the stock, simply place your thumb on the top of the folding mech, and pull the stock upwards against the spring. The stock will then fold to the right side of the PDW. To unfold the stock, place your hand on the top of the receiver and pull the stock up to overcome the locking mechanism, after which the stock can be unfolded and locked.

To install a battery in the CM.041PDW is a bit different to most AEGs, so we will walk you through it. First, remove the handguard pin and handguard, then remove the two pins at the rear of the receiver, which releases the folding stock. We recommend a stick battery for the CM.041PDW, as there is plenty of battery space but the shape of the battery is limited by the shape of the receiver. The stick battery should be inserted with the connector facing the front of the PDW, and pushed forwards until you can see the connector through the hole within the cocking tube, above the handguard. You can then connect the Mini-Tamiya connector to the connector on your battery, and put the handguard and stock back on.

Internally, the CM.041PDW features the CYMA Blue edition gearbox. This gearbox is jam packed full of high end parts to ensure the PDW runs smoothly. Inside the reinforced ver.3 gearbox shell the CM.041PDW sports steel gears mounted on reinforced 7mm bearing bushings, a metal reinforced bearing spring guide to reduce strain on the spring and rear of the gearbox, and a polymer piston with steel teeth. The cylinder is a type "2" and is finished in black nickel, providing a smooth surface for the piston to travel within. The piston is also equipped with a silent piston head, ensuring the gearbox does not make any unnecessary noise from the piston head slamming into the cylinder head. One of the best features of the CM.041PDW is its high torque motor, which uses Neodymium magnets for maximum trigger response and rate of fire.

This CM.041PDW provides excellent performance in a seriously compact package, and would make an excellent CQB primary, or a backup weapon for a sniper or support gunner when things get a bit too close for comfort. Its side folding stock means it is easy to transport and store, and its adjustable HOP means you will still be able to reach out and touch the enemy at range. For the discerning user who isn't an AR PDW fan, the CM.041PDW Blue Edition cannot be beaten!
