Project WE Hi-Capa 5.1 Dragon
Posted: 4 years ago | In dire need of some TLC.
Item Description
I got this split slide Hi-Capa Dragon as part of an M14 bundle last month and planned on sprucing it up but unfortunately for me I'm lazy and clueless.
But oh boy does this need some work.
The Hi-Capa works and fires if you take extreme care with every shot but there's quite a bit wrong with this pistol making it not skirmish friendly at all. Its definitely taken a beating from its previous owner(s) so let me try summarise;
- This pistol isn't in the best condition cosmetically-speaking but it can be cleaned. If I had to guess I'd say the previous owner left this in a shed or at the very least has had it for some years. There's a lot of gunk build up around moving parts which makes me think a previous owner might have once overdone it with some oil or lube - particular inside around the barrels/hop and the safety selector which might be contributing to some of its problems such as the slide getting locked back and needing a firm flick of the wrist or a boop to the rear to get it to travel forward all the way.
- The safety selector is nice and crisp on the left side but the right side flops around a lot when disengaged. It doesn't come out of safety and the right side can be used to push it in and out of safety but the left side is a thousand times easier and more reliable. Basically not ideal for left handers.
- The end of the 'split slide' (not actually part of the slide) is loose and rattles about. I read that's just a common problem with all dragon Hi-Capa's especially the cheaper models like the WE and now I've experienced it once I don't think I'll be buying a dragon at full price any time soon. Its on there and its not gonna come off no matter how much you shake the gun or snare it on the holster but its still annoying. It doesn't seem to affect accuracy as its not attached to the outer barrel.
And now for the magazines:
There's three total.
1x working WE mag with a base plate. Will need fresh o-rings and a clean.
1x Tokyo Marui mag without a base plate. Also could do with fresh o-rings but is considerably cleaner.
1x faulty WE mag that doesn't have a follower or a base plate. I've not even bothered putting gas in this one and probably wouldn't unless I had new rings.
Test fired the first two mags a few times and it has a tendency to get stuck and just kick out all the gas no matter how much/little I put in. I'm assuming its because of crusty dried o-rings because my glock had the same issue with all 4 of its mags upon receiving it and that nows runs like a dream with new o's.
I have some nice crisp videos of me showcasing this Hi-Capa's wobbly bits and its inability to shoot more than two or three rounds consistently. I will edit them into one video and add them to an unlisted youtube upload when I can. If I can't add them here feel free to ask me for the videos and I'll send them to you however I can.
Open to offers, and collection.
Will also consider trades if collecting - Other cheap gas pistols, broken/project AEGs, or parts such as handguards, receivers etc.
